10 Things About Me

  1.  I meditate daily and I believe in the power of the breath.
  2.  I’m a voracious reader and a TED Talk junkie! Check out my weekly blog calledNancy’s Notes and Anecdotesto see what I’ve been reading lately.
  3.  I have counted on my husband and son to provide the male perspective to balance out the fact that I am surrounded by women day in and day out. And my puppy (13 years young) reminds me daily that if you want some love and attention you have to ask for it.
  4.  I love to travel and have had a passport since I was 10 years old. Bucket list:  Kenya, New Zealand, Tibet
  5.  I’m a coach and I have coaches.  I believe in the power of mastermind groups, the power of group support and the power of accountability.  One of my coaches introduced me to the concept of Anchors and Engines-- there are people in our lives that anchor us down and keep us small because they are afraid we will fail.  There are people in our lives who are engines who remind us of our greatness and capabilities.  As in all things there has to be a balance between the two.  Once you know what you need, you can turn to your anchors or your engines.  Knowing this has been life changing!
  6.  I believe in and practice gratitude.  I end my day by listing 10 things (that I saw, that I did, that I received) for which I’m grateful.  I really do this… some days the blessings are grand and important milestones.  Often they are everyday things --like noticing that an orchid I’ve had for over 10 years has graced me with new blossoms-- that I make grand by counting them as blessings.
  7.  I design and make jewelry that is eclectic and energy-based.  I’m an accessories fanatic.  Do you know Iris Apfel?  She’s my idol and my muse.  I started making jewelry because I needed to find the right statement necklace.  I like bold pieces that look like they’ve been around forever.  I really get a kick when someone says that’s a gorgeous necklace, where did you get it?
  8.  I’m a big vision thinker-- I love the creative process and mind mapping is one of my favorite activities.
  9.  I surround myself with people who are smarter than me and I’m not afraid to ask for help.
  10.  Favorite quote:  “Make allies and believers” by Joseph Allen.  Yup, my husband.  He texted that to me when my organization was the host of a national conference.  I had sent him a text saying I had arrived safely and was on my way to the hotel.  I was very nervous because I wanted everything to go well and especially because I was the person on stage welcoming 3,000+ people to the event.  He wrote back “Good luck.  Make allies and believers.”  Those 4 words took the edge off because I know how to do that.  I know how to make allies and believers because I am passionate about what I do and how we do it.  My mission is to remind everyone that they can make allies and believers too.  And that is the key to successful transitions.  Surround yourself with people who will support you through your transition from no longer this … and not yet.

Are you ready?

Transitions are rarely easy. There is an art form to managing transitions, and that is why I am on a mission to help women across the globe complete their transitions with elegance.
